KILL ROCK STARS (USA)
Formed: 1991
Key artists: Bikini Kill, Elliot Smith, The Gossip, Deerhoof
Website: http://www.killrockstars.com
Distribution: CD/DVD/7″/Cassette
Kill Rock Stars began in 1991 by Slim Moon initially to release 7″ spoken word singles - the first release, KRS-101, was a split 7″ featuring Kathleen Hanna and Moon (entitled “Wordcore”). The first musical releases were compilations entitled “Kill Rock Stars”, “Stars Kill Rock” and “Rock Stars Kill”, featuring artists from Olympia, Washington (home base of the label) featuring Bikini Kill, Unwound, The Melvins and even Nirvana. It was Moon’s believe that acts such as Bikini Kill, Unwound and The Melvins were too exciting to remain unsigned, hence throwing it open as a full time label. (more…)
Bandwidth Exceeded. D’oh
It’s not us playing a prank. Due to the severe amount of traffic we’ve received, the storage site we use for all our stuff has hit it’s limit for bandwidth - meaning a great deal of the site is down!
We’re moving everything to a new server which is more reliable at the moment, then we’ll be writing up this weeks “It Came From” and also have both “The Dan Load” and “Listen.Rinse.Repeat” back in action.

Cobain Unseen
[Source - The Internet Nirvana Fanclub]
Author of the acclaimed Kurt Cobain biography Heavier Than Heaven, Charles R. Cross, is ready with a new book: Cobain Unseen. The new book features previously unseen photographs and personal items from the estate of Kurt Cobain. Full description:
An unparalleled look inside the brilliant mind of one of America’s most revered rock legends, Cobain Unseen collects previously unseen artifacts and photographs from the estate’s archives to form a fascinating portrait of the creativity, madness, and genius of Kurt Cobain.
Personal items and photographs take readers deeper inside Cobain’s life than they’ve ever been before, and interactive features, such as Kurt’s handwritten sticker-sheet of Nirvana name tags, facsimiles of unseen journal pages, and gatefolds of his graffiti-embellished guitars make this an essential keepsake. An audio CD showcasing spoken-word material by Cobain, some of it never before released, will be included. Accompanying the previously unpublished images and memorabilia is a compelling biographical narrative by New York Times-bestselling author Charles R. Cross.
The book is set to be published in the US on October 27.

The Bored Housewife Breakfast Show presents: It Came From…
In correlation with the new feature that will be running throughout the radio show from this Wednesday onwards, we’re going to also write a little bit more about it on the blog. It seems a practical enough idea - if you enjoy the tracks, why not read a little bit more about the artists that we play and hopefully we’ll also go into a little bit more length about the record labels also.
